Families First Children’s Museum empowers families with parent education and learning through play.
Families First (now operating as Families First Children’s Museum) was established in April 1994. The initial focus of the organization was Parenting Programs, which provide parenting information and support to anyone raising children in Western Montana. The operating principles were derived from Families First-Boston, but it remains unique and independent.
Families First broadened its focus in 2002 and opened Children’s Museum Missoula. The museum has provided opportunities for kids to learn through play with fun and interactive hands on exhibit experiences. Since the closing of our location on Front Street, our Community Connections Program is keeping the children’s museum spirit alive by offering pop up mobile exhibits at partner site and community events.
We are thrilled that the next chapter for Families First Children’s Museum involves a move to the new Missoula Public Library that is currently under construction. This space will allow us to offer our Family Education and Learning Through Play programming in one incredible location.
