Hi everyone! I’m Kashya, the new Museum Manager at Families First Children’s Museum! I have been working at the museum since October 2015 and have been filling in as the Interim Museum Manager since June. Before working at the museum, I was a preschool teacher for 4 years, and early childhood education is a passion of mine. I strongly believe that children (and even adults) learn through play and that the Children’s Museum provides this opportunity to as many families as possible, which makes it an essential staple of the Missoula community. Over the next few years, I am eager to watch the museum grow, change, and improve! As the manager, I hope to implement some changes including new/updated exhibits as well as partnering with other local organizations to bring in some new daily programs! Please feel free to make suggestions about improvements or new ideas you would like to see at the museum!
When I’m not working at the museum, I love to volunteer at local organizations and attend events and festivals around Missoula. I studied French, Spanish, and Linguistics at the University of Montana for several years and I am about to start school at the Montana Code School part-time. I hope to be an international translator and/or a computational linguist in the future. My other hobbies include aerial acrobatics, reading, watching documentaries, skiing, riding horses, singing, cooking, and hiking.
Once again, I am so pleased to accept this position as the Museum Manager; I look forward to continuing to help our museum and our community grow!
